7. Can the new Broadband connection be used by the Clerk’s family and if so, will new addresses have to be established?

This is a matter for the Clerk to agree with the Council.

 

8. Will the ISP Broadband contract be in the name of the Parish Clerk at his home address, and therefore be responsible for the Direct Debit payments?

The contract is in the name of the Council at the Clerk’s address. A Council is strictly not permitted to make Direct Debit payments but can set up a Standing Order for the monthly payments.

 

9. If a Parish Clerk does have a Broadband Connection installed as part of Connecting Dorset and after awhile moves away or hands over to someone else, what happens to the Direct Debit payments for the Broadband connection and the ISP contract at that address?

The ISP contract with Nildram is on a 30 day notice for just this eventuality. The council is responsible for any transfer costs.

 

10. If a newly appointed Parish Clerk already has a Wi-Fi Broadband connection for the family will he/she be entitled to receive a contribution from the Parish Council towards the telephone line and ISP connection costs in the first year from Connecting Dorset?

Not  from Connecting Dorset. The project will pay for a connection to the project ISP.

 

11. After the year is up will the Parish Council be obliged to continue that contribution to the Parish Clerk?

This is not a project matter

 

12. Can the equipment be installed in another community building?

No.  The conditions of the funding only allow for the equipment to be installed in Village or Community Halls.  It is not possible to provide equipment for Community Shops, Retirement Homes etc.
